Gibernau on Spanish pole

Sete Gibernau has qualified on pole position for the final race of the 2005 MotoGP season, which takes place at Valencia in Spain on Sunday, November 6, 2005.

The Spanish Movistar Honda rider achieved a best lap of 1:31.874 to put himself on pole for the race, and was the only rider to achieve a time below one minute 32 seconds.

Second quickest was Movistar team-mate Marco Melandri, with the front row becoming an all-Honda affair with Nicky Hayden qualifying in third.

Reigning world champion Valentino Rossi finished the session in 15th place, just in front of wildcard British Superbike star Ryuichi Kiyonari. Britain’s James Ellison was 19th, just in front of Kurtis Roberts on the Proton KR, and Franco Battaini.
