Honda Pons out for 2006

1 of 1

The Honda Pons team run by former double 250cc World Champion Sito Pons, will not compete in the 2006 motoGP World Championship.

Following 25 successive seasons, the decision has been prompted by the failure to agree sponsorship with title partner Camel, which had supported the team for three years.

The aim for the team is to return in 2007. Pons himself will continue in his role as President of the International Road Racing Teams Association.

“In spite of determined efforts to maintain our team’s 2006 MotoGP project in which we have gratefully counted on the support of HRC and Honda Spain, the option to continue did not in the end materialise. We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to both HRC and Honda Spain for their patience and assistance, and to Carlos Checa and Casey Stoner for their trust placed in our team.
