Pirro to miss Jerez

The first race of the 2006 MotoGP season takes place on Sunday, March 26,2006, but one rider has already ruled himself out of the action.

WTR Team Blauer USA rider Michele Pirro will miss the 125cc GP following a crash during the official test at Jerez earlier in March. The Italian suffered a fractured tibia and torn ankle ligaments, which required surgery in Italy. He hopes to return for the Qatar GP in April

British fans will be able to follow Oxford-based Bradley Smith, who will make his 125cc GP debut for the factory Repsol Honda team. Other British hopefuls will be Chaz Davies in the 250cc GP class, and James Ellison in MotoGP.
