Alex Barros will make his Ducati GP7 800 debut two months ahead of schedule after impressing at last week’s Valencia test session.

The veteran Brazilian wasn’t expecting to make his 800 debut until the opening test of 2007 at Sepang in Malaysia when the seven-week testing ban ends in January. That was after Bologna bosses told satellite team boss Luis D’Antin that his bikes wouldn’t be ready until January, with factory duo Loris Capirossi and new recruit Casey Stoner taking priority.

But Barros, who is back in MotoGP after a year in World Superbikes with the Klaffi Honda squad, will get his first taste of the GP7 in Spain on November 28.

Ducati bosses were so impressed with his performance on the old 990cc Desmosedici in a two-day test after the final race in Valencia and will make one bike available for the 36-year-old in Jerez.
