Nicky Hayden may have barely shrugged off the hangover from winning the MotoGP world title in dramatic fashion last week, but he’s already got his eye on a second championship.
Hayden, who won the his first world title by just five points, was stuck deep into testing duties last week at Valencia, and explained: “I know we’ve made Valentino mad now taking away his title and he’s going to come back hungry and I’m looking forward to that.

“I want to come back and win again. To win one title is great but when you get two that’s taking another big step. That’s definitely another elite group. I’m still plenty hungry.”
Hayden said his brilliant ’06 success was finally beginning to sink in as he got reminded of the significance of his achievement at the Valencia test: “I spoke with Kevin Schwantz and on Monday after the race Kenny Roberts – big Kenny – came and welcomed me to the club. That made it hit home even more. People said it would feel better as the weeks go by. Winning this title does feel special and especially when he said that. When you think about the other American’s and they are going Schwantz, Rainey, Lawson, Spencer and Hayden. I mean come on, them boys are for real.”
