Jeremy McWilliams’ bid for a dramatic return to the MotoGP world championship at the age of 42 could be eased by fellow Brit Leon Haslam announcing his decision to stay in BSB.
Veteran McWilliams tested the new Ilmor X3 in Valencia last week in what was effectively an on-track job interview between Aussie duo Garry McCoy, Andrew Pitt and himself.

McWilliams was the slowest of the trio, clocking a best time of 1.35.90, which was 0.7s slower than McCoy’s best.
Ilmor chief Eskil Suter claimed in Valencia last week that negotiations were ongoing with Haslam, even though the 23-uear-old announced at the NEC Show last Wednesday that he was aiming to stay in BSB with Airwaves Ducati for another year.
