Barros has won seven Grand Prix, the last at Estoril in 2005, and has gained 31 podiums to date.

The rider set to make way for the Brazilian is Jose Luis Cardoso, although this is yet to be confirmed. Barros will switch from the Honda which he rode this season to an 800cc Ducati for 2007.
