Tamada joins Tech 3

Makoto Tamada has joined the Tech 3 squad to ride an 800cc Yamaha in 2007.

The Japanese rider will continue the development of Dunlop tyres following his switch from the Konica Minolta Honda squad and a lacklustre 2006 season. However, he has previously won two GP rounds, and made the podium five times, which is something the squad hope to capitalise on.

“I am happy to be back on Dunlop tyes again, and have good memories of riding on Dunlops in the Japanese Superbike Championship,” said Tamada. “I am excited by the challenge that the Tech 3 Yamaha Dunlop project offers. I was able to judge at close quarters the current level of the Dunlop Ymaha package throughout a close race I had with Carlos Checa at the last GP in Portugal.”
