MCN Exclusive Brno MotoGP: Loris Capirossi signs for Suzuki

1 of 1

As was exclusively revealed by MCN five weeks ago, Loris Capirossi will announce this afternoon in Brno that he has signed a contract with Suzuki’s factory MotoGP team for the 2008 world championship.

The 34-year-old Italian will hold a press conference at 3pm local time at the Brno circuit in the Czech Republic to announce his departure from Ducati’s factory team after five years.

He has signed a deal with Suzuki having rejected the chance to ride a third Ducati with current team-mate Casey Stoner and Marco Melandri next year.

The triple world champion also turned down an approach to join John Hopkins in Kawasaki’s factory team next season.

Instead he will replace the American on a GSV-R and partner Chris Vermeulen, who recently extended his Suzuki deal at last month’s American MotoGP race in Laguna Seca.

More to follow later.
