Checa in comfort zone

Carlos Checa admitted he is finally comfortable and adapted to Honda’s new 800cc MotoGP contender after he finished the Phillip Island test with the fourth fastest time on race tyres.

Checa has so far struggled to make the switch to the smaller capacity machine but he made a big breakthrough in Australia, his best lap of 1.30.28 good enough to clock the seventh best time overall, though he declined to run a Michelin qualifying tyre.

“I am feeling much more positive than I was when I first rode this bike. We have done a lot of work with the bike to help me feel more comfortable with the riding position including handlebars, seat and fuel tank,” said Checa, who for the second successive day completed over 101 laps.
