Tyre question for Dani

1 of 1

Dani Pedrosa is still to be convinced that Michelin’s new 16-inch front tyre is the way forward in the 2007 MotoGP world championship.

The French tyre manufacturer has asked all of its riders to extensively test the new profile front in ’07 tests at Sepang and Phillip Island.

Michelin race bosses believe the new tyre will help cope with the faster corner entry speed and higher corners speeds riders can now run on the new generation 800cc machines over the 16.5-inch front.

The general consensus is that the 16-inch front is the direction to follow but Pedrosa is still undecided whether he will line up on the grid for the first race in Qatar on March 10 with the new profile.

The 20-year-old Spaniard said: “It’s difficult to say. I think it is maybe the future so we must keep on working. It is a new generation tyre and still at the beginning so I think everybody is working on it.

“There is some difference but you are used to one thing so things like this are difficult to change. It’s a front tyre so it is more sensitive than a rear.

“It is too early to answer about
