Barros cautious on tyre

Alex Barros reckons the forthcoming IRTA test in Qatar will give him the chance to properly assess Bridgestone tyres on his new Ducati GP7.

The South American was third fastest recently at the Phillip Island three-day session in Australia, but he believes the Losail International Circuit test in Doha will give him a better understanding of the potential of Bridgestone’s latest generation tyres.

Barros has so far only tested at tracks where Bridgestone have either won at or claimed podiums in the past and he said: “So far the Bridgestone tyres have worked very well, although so far I’ve just ridden on tracks where Bridgestone get good results. I’ve ridden in Valencia, Jerez, Sepang and Phillip Island and at these tracks Bridgestone always make good results. I need to see what it is like in Qatar.

“Last year Loris Capirossi was third but it wasn’t as good as the tracks I’ve been to and at the end of the race he told me he had some problems.”
