Edwards' desert storm

Colin Edwards is looking forward to continuing his recent good form when the whole MotoGP grid tests together for the first time this winter in Qatar.

The three-day IRTA test gets underway next Tuesday, February 13, 2007 with the double World Superbike champion heading to the Middle East brimming with confidence after his test topping display in Malaysia this week.

Edwards is confident his impressive displays on Yamaha’s new YZR-M1 800 will continue in Doha, which was the scene of one of only four premier class podiums he’s scored.

The American said: “I like Qatar and I really go good there. Obviously we will lose time down the front straight but that place is kind of a momentum place in a few spots so it will be interesting on the 800.

“Basically wherever you go the 800 feels dead but you just get used to it.

“I know we will get to Qatar and it will feel bad again. But you have to understand we have been riding 990s for the last how many years and this thing just feels flat. That’s a good thing for corner speed but for acceleration and top speed I don’t know.”
