Honda has told its top MotoGP riders that more horsepower is on the way.

Several Honda riders including world champion Nicky Hayden voiced their concerns about a lack of power on the new 800cc RC212V machine.

Dani Pedrosa has been the latest to go public with his calls for an increase in engine performance in Malaysia.

Takanori Okuma, project leader for the RC212V who is present at the first major winter test of 2007 in Sepang, said: “We started not with high power and high revs but we started to get the most out of smooth cornering, so if the power is not enough then we can start to increase it.”

He admitted though that Honda’s new premier class contender was behind some of its rivals by adding: “We are struggling a little bit for power.”

It is clear that HRC desperately need to find more power as best Honda rider today was Nicky Hayden who was only eighth fastest.
