Loris gets physical

Italian veteran Loris Capirossi believes that Ducati’s new 800cc GP7 is more physically demanding than the old 990cc machine.

Capirossi was second fastest on race tyres on day two in Australia with a best time of 1.30.34.

Although the 800cc machines are the same weight limit as the old generation 990cc machines, most riders are saying that they are more nimble and faster to change direction.

“For me, especially at this track, our new bike is more physical to ride. You have to use much more effort in some corners to turn the bike but that is because of the peaky engine with more revs,” said Capirossi, who will complete a full 27-lap race simulation tomorrow. It will be his first on board the new GP7 800cc machine.
