Smith eyes '08 switch

British teenager Bradley Smith has set his sights on a switch to the world 250 championship in 2008.

Smith, who is riding for the Repsol Honda 125 squad in GPs again this season, is confident a good ’07 campaign will allow him to fulfil his future ambitions by moving to the quarter litre class.

The 16-year-old started his second world championship campaign with 12th place in Qatar having clinched the 125 Rookie of the Year crown in 2006.

He said: “250s is the goal but first I’ve got to get a good result this year. I am getting a bit big but I still can fit on a 125 and while that is the case I’ll ride it fast.

“But in the back of my mind 250s is what I’m looking for but getting results is important this year before I can worry about that.

“People want you then if you get good results and will help you go forward.”
