MotoGP: Colin Edwards praises Michelin revival effort

Texan Colin Edwards has praised Michelin for the effort being put in to try and stop Bridgestone’s domination of the 2007 MotoGP world championship.

With just four wins in 13 races, Michelin has come under attack for poor performance this season, but Colin Edwards reckons the French factory has been stung into action and is now finally heading in the right direction with development.

The double World Superbike champion will partner James Toseland in 2008 in the Tech 3 squad and it seems certain that the pair will run Michelin rubber next season.

Colin Edwards, who recently supported calls for a one-make tyre rule in MotoGP, told MCN: “The last test in Brno I felt like Michelin were testing us, but in my eyes the one in Misano was very productive.

“We have got a few new theories to look at and I’m positive we are going in the right direction. I know what direction is better and thankfully Valentino Rossi likes the direction as well.

“It’s getting better. We are searching and digging our way out. I think we are finally removing the rafters from over our head and seeing a bit of daylight, so now we’ve just to climb out.

“I’m very impressed with Michelin. The Misano race weekend wasn’t that great but for the test I was impressed with what we had.”
