Misano MotoGP: Nicky Hayden in doubt for race

1 of 1

Nicky Hayden’s participation in this afternoon’s Misano GP is in doubt because of the cracked heel he suffered over a month ago.

The American didn’t take part in this morning’s warm-up session as the heel injury has worsened over the weekend, leaving him in considerable pain and discomfort.

With his home race in Indianapolis coming up in less than two weeks, Hayden is reluctant to further aggravate the problem and risk his participation in the Indy clash on September 14.

A decision on whether he will take to the grid on his Repsol Honda RC212V will be decided after further meetings shortly.

Hayden qualified 16th on his return to action after he missed the Czech Republic GP in  Brno earlier this month with the heel injury.

He suffered the injury on August 1 during practice for a Supermoto appearance at the X Games in Los Angeles.

Hayden is still on crutches and he’s been using a specially modified boot with the biggest issue still weightbearing on his right foot.
