Sachsenring MotoGP - Casey Stoner breaks Sachsenring circuit record in free practice

1 of 1

Casey Stoner dominated the field today in the Sachsenring MotoGP free practice, finishing at the top of the time sheets in both practice sessions.

In the first practice this morning, Stoner set the pace and San Carlo Gresini Honda rider Alex de Angelis finished less than three tenths of a second slower to take second place.

Valentino Rossi had to settle for third but only just with a lap time less than a tenth of a second slower than de Angelis. Loris Capirossi finished last place in the session, not helped by the injuries he sustained last month at the Catalunya GP.

In the second free practice session today, Casey Stoner upped the pace to finish first with a time of 1’21.582- a new circuit record.

Alex de Angelis followed suit and bettered his earlier time to claim second. Colin Edwards took third position despite a crash midway through the practice.

Valentino Rossi claimed fourth, with a fastest lap 1.2 seconds off Stoner’s record breaking time.
