Dani Pedrosa content with second

Dani Pedrosa declared himself satisfied with second place at the end of a weather-hit opening day in Valencia.

Bidding for a second successive victory at the Valencia circuit, the Repsol Honda rider finished just 0.087s behind team-mate Nicky Hayden in tricky conditions on the opening day of the final round of 2008.

The Spaniard, who was fourth quickest in this morning’s rain-lashed session, said: “Conditions were difficult today. It rained pretty much the whole day and the asphalt was quite slippery. In these conditions we couldn’t work so much on the set-up, but anyway we were able to find a good compromise that allowed us to be quite fast.

During the afternoon session the track dried out a little bit up, so we were able to improve our lap times and ride with a good rhythm. My Bridgestone wet tyres worked well today, but I hope that we can have two dry sessions tomorrow so that we can work on the set-up in preparation of the race.”
