Valentino Rossi confirms Rally GB assault

Valentino Rossi has confirmed to MCN he will contest the Rally GB in December, but he’s yet to decide which car he will drive in the famous event.

The 29-year-old has targeted a top ten finish after confirming today in Japan he will definitely drive in the Rally GB in early December, Rossi, who can wrap up his sixth MotoGP world title at the Twin Ring Motegi this Sunday, told MCN:

“My plan is quite busy for November because I have the Monza Rally in the middle of November, then I’m testing in Jerez at the end of November and I go straight to England for the rally.”

It has still to be decided yet whether the Italian will compete behind the wheel of a Ford or Subaru.

He added: “I don’t know which car I’m driving yet. I’ve read I am driving for Ford but that is not decided yet. It will be Ford or Subaru. I want to make a test before on the gravel. But it depends on which car I use but I think in England maybe one week before the rally I’ll test.”

Rossi said his first target would be to finish the Rally GB, which he famously crashed out of on the first special stage back in 2002.

But his last appearance in WRC was an impressive one as he finished 11th while driving for Subaru in the New Zealand rally.

He said: “The first target is to try and finish! And that is not easy. I finished 11th in New Zealand so I will try and arrive in the top ten.”
