Qatar MotoGP: Jorge Lorenzo vows to cut out mistakes

Fiat Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo has vowed to cut out the big mistakes in 2009 that cost him so dearly in his rookie MotoGP world championship campaign.

Large parts of his maiden campaign were spent recuperating from injury as the Spaniard suffered massive crashes in Shanghai, Catalunya and Laguna Seca.

His mistakes cost him the chance to finish higher than fourth place in the championship, though he has targeted third in the championship in 2009 by taking less risks than he did in ’08.

He has also pledged to cut out his blunders and become a more consistent challenger after he scored one victory in Estoril last season.

“I hope to improve on last season and I think to improve I need to finish third. I have more experience and everybody expects me to be fast.

“I know the class and the bike and this will help me a lot. To win the world championship is going to be very complicated.

“I think last year was a year of trying things and to take some risks that maybe this year I will not have that option.

“It is not the same to come to MotoGP without any experience and to make your own way.

“I am still young but I have experience and Yamaha for sure will not accept six or seven big crashes like last year, “said the 21-year-old.
