Bradley Smith stays in second place in Jerez

British teenager Bradley Smith impressed again on the second day of 125GP testing in Jerez, the Aspar Aprilia rider holding onto second place.

Smith slashed 0.5s off his best time from the first day but the 18-year-old did fall further behind fastest rider and team-mate Julian Simon, who was again comfortably quickest at the Spanish GP venue.

Smith clocked a best time of 1.48.863 in his 58 laps yesterday (Tuesday), but he was a massive 0.9s adrift of impressive Simon.

Scott Redding, last year’s 125GP Rookie of the Year, also managed to slice a big chunk of time off his best on the first day.

A 1.50.219 was 0.6s faster than he managed on the first day but he slipped down the rankings one place from fifth to sixth on the Blusens Aprilia.
