British MotoGP: Toni Elias unsure of future

1 of 1

Spaniard Toni Elias has admitted he has no idea whether he will be riding in MotoGP in 2010.

Elias looks certain to lose his ride in the San Carlo Gresini squad with reigning 250GP champion Marco Simoncelli already signed and fellow Italian Marco Melandri an odds-on favourite to take the second RC212V machine.

That leaves Elias out in the cold, though he has been linked with a ride in the Jorge Martinez Ducati squad, depending on whether Alvaro Bautista accepts an offer to join Suzuki’s factory team.

Elias had a torrid start to the season and in the opening seven races had scored a best result of ninth. But he’s started to show some decent form of late, the 26-year-old scoring successive top six finishes in Laguna Seca and Sachsenring.

Asked about his future, Elias said: “I don’t know. I’m waiting at the moment but right now I have nothing. If somebody wants me then they can come and talk to me.”
