British MotoGP: Casey Stoner to undergo more medical checks

Casey Stoner will return to Australia during the short summer break for further medical checks aimed at getting to the bottom of the Ducati rider’s on-going mystery physical issues.

Recent assessments after the American GP at Laguna Seca earlier this month proved inconclusive and the 23-year-old has continued to struggle with fatigue issues.

The 2007 world champion though has now confirmed that he will fly home to Australia immediately after Sunday’s British GP for further checks.

Stoner will visit leading Australian sports doctor Neil Halpin and he said:

“I’ll go and see some more doctors and not so much run some different tests but try and get me on a regime and see if a diet can help.

“I’ve got somebody that I consult with and he’s been very, very good to me. I got shoulder surgery done from a recommendation from him and I’ve always been steered in the right direction.

“He’s not the sort of person who says he knows what is wrong. He’s just trying to figure out what is wrong. It’s just something that’s not getting better, it’s not changing and it’s very, very frustrating.

“It’s a nice long break, which we haven’t really had so far and it should be hopefully something to help me improve a little bit.”

Stoner is bidding for a third successive win in this weekend’s British GP.
