Danny Webb looking for consistency

British teenager Danny Webb is hoping he can become a regular top six challenger after he scored his best result of 2009 in Jerez last weekend.

The 18-year-old rode his Degraaf Aprilia to eighth place in Spain in a race that saw compatriot Bradley Smith break his victory duck with a crushing win.

Kent rider Webb though is still having to contend with handling issues on the new spec Aprilia RSA bike, which have been marginally improved by a switch back to last year’s Ohlins front forks.

But he told MCN: “If we get the movement on the brakes sorted, it starts moving on the exit from the corners, and if we get that sorted we start running wide.

“It’s all a bit demoralising in the head. When the bike is good, we can go for the podium. To finish consistently in the top five or top eight would be great from now.”
