Le Mans MotoGP: Colin Edwards cagey on 2010 future

American Colin Edwards has remained cagey on his future despite insisting he’s still motivated enough to continue racing in MotoGP next season.

Speculation surrounding the future of Edwards and British team-mate James Toseland has been rife throughout 2009, with the Tech 3 Yamaha squad linked with World Superbike sensation Ben Spies and reigning world 250GP champion Marco Simoncelli.

But asked about his future plans and whether he intends to be riding a Yamaha YZR-M1 machine in 2010, Edwards said: “I’ll do the Tour de France next year, it’s never too late to ride a bicycle.

“Seriously, I’m happy, I’m motivated and I feel good so we’ll just wait and see what happens.”

The Texan denied his motivation to continue would have anything to do with securing one big final payday before he retires.

Edwards, who had initially planned to quit MotoGP at the end of the 2008 campaign, added: “Money is not everything. At this point in my career I’ve made enough money.

“I haven’t made Valentino (Rossi) money, but I do what makes me happy and what keeps me motivated and for me that’s the main thing.”
