Tech 3 Yamaha boss praises James Toseland

Tech 3 Yamaha boss Herve Poncharal has praised the efforts of James Toseland after it was confirmed in Estoril today that the British rider will be replaced by Ben Spies in 2010.

Toseland will move back to World Superbikes in a straight swap with Texan Spies after a series of inconsistent performances in his second year in MotoGP.

The 28-year-old has scored nine top six finishes for the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team and also claimed a front row start on his debut in 2008 in Qatar.

But the emergence of Spies in 2009, coupled with his own indifferent form, has cost Toseland his place alongside fellow double World Superbike champion Colin Edwards.

But Poncharal was full of praise for Toseland’s efforts and he said: “I would like to thank James.

“He has been one of the most determined and dedicated riders ever to work with Tech 3.

“I have nothing but admiration for James and it has been a privilege working with him. I wish him all the best for the future.”
