Phillip Island MotoGP: Simon takes win and 125GP championship

1 of 1

Aspar Aprilia rider Julian Simon won the Phillip Island 125GP race ahead of team-mate Bradley Smith and with it the 125GP championship.

Simon didn’t have it all his own way during the race, and had to leave it to the last lap to pass Brit Bradley Smith and win the championship.

Had Smith finished the race ahead of Simon the championship would not have been wrapped up.

Third place went to Derbi rider Sandro Cortese, rode an excellent race to finish third, after he was 17th at the end of the first lap.
