Colin Edwards looks to race beyond 2010

Colin Edwards reckons he’s no intention of quitting MotoGP at the end of the 2010 world championship campaign.

The Texan is poised to start his eighth premier class campaign after he enjoyed arguably his best ever season in 2009.

The double World Superbike champion finished fifth in the overall standings last year and helped the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 squad claim fourth in the coveted Team world championship.

The 36-year-old has impressed again during winter testing on board the new 2010 YZR-M1 machine having been joined by fellow Texan Ben Spies.

Edwards, who has yet to win a MotoGP race, told MCN: “I’m having fun and if I’m having fun doing what I’m doing then I don’t see why I should stop.

“It used to be a pain in the ass leaving the wife and kids. But now I come to a track and don’t have three kids jumping all over me, so it’s kind of a vacation.

“I get to come and do what I love to do on vacation. But I feel good and I’m certainly not looking at 2010 being my last.”

Edwards has a one-year deal with Herve Poncharal’s Tech 3 squad.
