Ben Spies makes debut on Yamaha’s 1000cc MotoGP bike

Ben Spies has just completed his first laps on board Yamaha’s new factory 1000cc MotoGP bike at the Brno circuit in the Czech Republic.

Having initially spent the first part of today’s one-day test session riding his current YZR-M1 800cc machine, Spies has just finished his first run on next year’s new bike.

It is the first time the new Yamaha has been seen in public after the Japanese factory was forced to postpone a planned debut in Mugello last month after an engine failed during dyno testing in Japan.

Reigning world champion Jorge Lorenzo will get his first chance to test the new Yamaha later today after he’s assessed a revised 800cc motor.

Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa are also lapping on the new Honda 1000cc machine, which is being tested in public for the first time.
