Casey Stoner thrilled with 2011 form

Casey Stoner has denied he’s exceeding his pre-season expectations in 2011, but the Australian hailed his campaign so far as ‘fantastic’ after he took victory in six out of the opening 11 races.

The Australian heads to the Indianapolis round in America next week with a comfortable lead of 32-points over reigning world champion Jorge Lorenzo.

The Repsol Honda rider has won the last two races in Laguna Seca and Brno to seize back control of the world championship title chase and he’s only missed the rostrum once so far.

His solitary DNF came when Valentino Rossi took him out during a rain-hit Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez.

And the 2007 world champion told MCN: “I don’t have expectations so there was nothing to surpass. It’s great when I get to win and when I’ve been third this year I have been pretty unhappy with them, which in some ways is a good thing. When you are unhappy with third you know you are having a great season.  It has been fantastic so far, I suppose it could be better but also it could be a lot worse, but we have look at the positives.”
