John Hopkins hopes for another Suzuki chance in 2011

John Hopkins is trying to secure at least one more wild card with Suzuki’s factory MotoGP squad before the end of the 2011 campaign.

The American was due to race in last month’s Brno clash in the Czech Republic alongside Alvaro Bautista, but a heavy crash in the third practice session forced him to withdraw with a badly broken right hand.

But Hopkins is hoping to clinch a deal to contest at least one if not all of the final three races in Phillip Island, Sepang and Valencia after the conclusion to the British Superbike series in early October.

Hopkins, who rides for the Samsung Crescent Suzuki squad in BSB, is desperate to make a return to MotoGP for the first time since he endured an injury-ravaged campaign with Kawasaki’s factory squad in 2008.

He told MCN: “There are still three races after the BSB championship and I have every intention of doing all I can to get out there.”

Hopkins gave his BSB title hopes a massive boost at Donington Park yesterday (Sunday) when he won both races in the first stage of the Showdown.
