Sachsenring MotoGP: Danny Kent continues impressive form

1 of 1

Fresh from a career first Grand Prix podium in Assen just six days ago, British rider Danny Kent was third quickest on the opening day of Moto3 practice at Germany’s Sachsenring today.

The Red Bull KTM rider clocked a best time of 1.28.843 to finish just 0.182s behind world championship leader Maverick Vinales, who led the timesheets with a best time of 1.28.661.

Kent broke his world championship podium duck with third in last weekend’s Dutch TT and after finishing 10th fastest this morning, he slashed a second off his times this afternoon to surge into the top three.

Fellow Brit Danny Webb enjoyed easily his best day so far on the struggling Mahindra machine.

The Kent rider has endured a disastrous 2012 and is yet to score a top 15 finish but he was seventh fastest this morning and eighth in this afternoon’s second session.

His best lap of 1.29.344 secured him ninth on the combined leaderboard and he was only 0.683s behind Vinales on the Mahindra machine that has been ravaged by power and reliability issues.
