British MotoGP: Vinales takes win and championship lead

FTR Honda rider Maverick Vinales has moved to the the top of the Moto3 championship after a hard fought victory at Silverstone today.

Vinales now leads KTM rider Sandro Cortest by two points after six races.

Alexis Masbou got the holeshot to lead the front group of nine riders – all easily in with a chance of a podium position. In the middle of the group was Brit Danny Kent who got a good start onboard his KTM.

With seven laps remaining Vinales tried to breakaway from the group, taking Luis Salom and Sandro Cortese with him. It wasn’t all plain sailing for Vinales as Salom and Cortese pushed him right to the end.

Salom put a tough move on Cortese to take second spot over the line.

Kent finished sixth after getting the better of Italian Romano Fenati.
