Germany Moto3: Rins takes pole as Salom goes pop

1 of 1

Alex Rins will start tomorrow’s German moto3 race from pole position, after championship leader Luis Salom’s Red Bull KTM exploded during hsi fastest run of the session. Salom’s fastest lap of free practice, however, remains the fastest lap of the weekend.

The Mahindra of Miguel Olivera will start from third, his third consecutive front row, ahead of local star Jonas Folger, who suffered a big crash early in the session at the now-infamous turn eleven. However, he walked away, managing to rejoin the session to take fourth.

Fifth was taken by an excellent ride from the Australian Jack Miller, while Maverick Vinales’ off track excursion at turn one means he will round out the second row in sixth.

Brit John McPhee will start from 19th, but Danny Webb will sit out this round after his Assen injuries. His replacement, Jules Danilo, is last in 35th.
