Mugello Moto2: Rabat victorious

After a slow start Marc VDS rider Esteve Rabat fought back to extend his championship lead with his third victory of the season at Mugello.

German Jonas Folger, who led for most of the race was unable to stay with Rabat once the Spaniard had taken the lead. Folger finished third, with Luis Salom second.

After a brilliant qualifying performance saw Sam Lowes start from second on the grid, the Brit struggle to stick with the leaders and was left battling for a top ten finish. Lowes finished eighth, just managing to hold off the hard charging Maverick Vinales in ninth.

Mika Kallio remains second in the championship, 22 points behind Rabat after clawing his way up to a sixth place finish from 11th on the grid after a poor qualifying performance.
