Valencia Moto3: Miller wins the battle but Marquez wins the war

1 of 2

A dominant Moto3 victory in Valencia for Jack Miller proved too little too late, as the Australian star was forced to concede the 2014 title to Spaniard Alex Marquez, to give the Marquez family a record breaking double world title.

Miller led almost from the start, and was able to control the race from the front despite the attentions of Isaac Vinales, while it looked like Marquez had left himself with a lot to do after a slow start.

Needing to finish on the podium to win, he picked himself through to third behind Miller and Vinales, and a last lap mistake from Brit Danny Kent left him unable to mount a challenge, finishing fourth at the flag.

Alex Rins was fifth, ahead of Efren Vasquez, pole man Niccolo Antonelli and Miguel Olivera, while Brad Binder and Karol Hanika filled out the top ten.

Scotsman John McPhee has an ignominious end to his most successful season to date, falling from sixth on the last lap to finish seventeenth.
