First Moto2 win for Rins

1 of 1

Alex Rins took his first Moto2 victory this afternoon after a thrilling Indianapolis Grand Prix. The Spaniard had tarted the race as a favourite to take the win but with a short rain shower making conditions quite difficult the riders all elected to start on slick tyres.

At the start Hafizh Syahrin made the start of his life and grabbed the lead. The Malaysian looked to be a shock contender for the win but ultimately faded to the back of the lead group before crashing. Sam Lowe led on the opening lap but with a wet weather setup he had very little confidence in the bike. Lowes fought for the top five but with five laps to go he crashed out.

Rins yo-yoed throughout the race from the lead to sixth but when it mattered he had the confidence and bravery to take the win from Johann Zarco and move ahead of Lowes in the championship.
