Riders impressed with new Ducati

The Ducati GP15 made its track debut today in Sepang and for riders Andrea Dovizioso and Andrea Iannone the effects were clear from the start with the bike immediately offering considerable improvement on turn in and corner stability.

“I’m really happy because we fixed the problem about the turning,” said Dovizioso. “It was the key point in the last two years. Now with the new bike from the out lap I felt much better. Today we weren’t so fast because the bike was completely new and so we didn’t do so many laps. Then it rained in the afternoon. But the key point was the turning and I’m so happy to have that feeling.”

For Iannone the differences weren’t as stark but the Italian commented that because all of his MotoGP experience has been on Ducati machinery his scope for comparing the new bike to other MotoGP bikes was very limited but he did acknowledge that the new bike was much improved.

“I haven’t tried a Honda or a Yamaha, only the Ducati,” said Iannone. “For me the 2014 Ducati improved a lot and this bike improves more in the agility. I’m really happy. For sure we are not at 100 percent competitiveness because it is new and I was not pushing. I was trying to understand the bike and some settings. It is a good evolution but a little bit of a revolution.”
