Forward boss arrested in Switzerland

The future of the Forward Racing squad – which runs Stefan Bradl in MotoGP – has been thrown into question with the arrest team boss Giovanni Cuzari on suspicion of bribery, fraud and money laundering.

Cuzari is being held until at least this weekend when a hearing will take place to determine whether he should remain incarcerated or be released. The charges stem from allegation that he bribed a local tax inspector, Liberto Galli for Galli to offer favours to Cuzari’s Media Action group. Media Action looks after sponsorship for Forward Racing and has been active with the racing paddock for a number of years sourcing sponsors for teams.

Libero has been charged with abuse of authority, passive corruption and improper application of fiscal regulation. Both Libero and Cuzari have had their assets frozen

When MCN contacted Forward Racing for comment they responded:

“At the moment we can only confirm that Giovanni is under investigation. He was stopped by the Police in Lugano. As soon as possibile we will give you all the information about the future of the team.”

Forward Racing has one of the biggest presences in the paddock with Bradl and Lori Baz in MotoGP and Lorenzo Baldasari and Simone Corsi in Moto2. At the moment the team are proceeding as normal following the German Grand Prix and on Sunday Bradl told MCN that he has talked to the squad in relation to remaining with the team for a second season.
