Moto2 recap: Round 2 - Americas

Sam Lowes took the first win of his Grand Prix career at COTA after seeing off the challenge from Johann Zarco. Lowes had suffered a huge crash on Friday and another during qualifying but when it mattered he showed his mettle and took the win by two seconds.

The win marked the first time since 1977 that two British riders won Grand Prix on the same day and afterwards Lowes said it was the best win of his career.

“This is the best win of my career,” said the 2013 World Supersport champion. “It’s at a higher level and last year a lot of people wrote me off because of crashing but I’ve come so far in such a short space of time. In 2009 I was still working as an electrician when these guys were in 125’s! Learning tracks was hard and this year I’ve gone over a second faster in Qatar and here.”
