Resurfaced Misano yielding lap record times

1 of 1

Misano was resurfaced earlier in the season and the laptimes at this week’s test show just how much laptime has been gained at the Italian circuit. Today Marc Marquez set the fastest time with the reigning world champion half a second faster than the opposition. With typical summer heat at Misano the track conditions were far from ideal yet the times were still hugely impressive.

Marquez and Pedrosa both tested the 2016 chassis today while also focussing on improving their feel on the current bike through setup changes. Ducati spent time seeking improvements on the harder tyre and trying some setup options that they can’t attempt at a race weekend because of the time restrictions. Suzuki used their time today to work on progressing their electronics package.

To put into perspective the jump made in laptime the existing lap record is 1m32.9s from Marquez’ pole lap two years ago.

1. Marc Marquez (Honda) 1m 32.0s
2. Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati) 32.5s
3. Dani Pedrosa (Honda) 1m 32.66s
4. Andrea Iannone (Ducati) 1m 32.7s
4. Maverick Vinales (Suzuki) 1m 32.7s
6. Aleix Espargaro (Suzuki) 1m 32.8s
