First pole for Bastianini

1 of 1

Enea Bastianini claimed the first pole position of his career today in Montmelo with the Italian over a tenth of a second faster than a late charging Danny Kent. While the rest of the field were concerned with getting a tow on the straight and making sure that they were able to take advantage of the time gained from the tow the pole sitter set his time on his own and puts himself in a great position to challenge for his first win tomorrow.

It was another impressive effort from Kent to claim his fifth front row of the season ahead of Jorge Navarro. Of the other title contenders Miguel Oliviera was fifth and Romano Fenati 13th.

John McPhee showed plenty of progress as a result of the changes within his team in Italy where he aquired a new Ohlins suspension engineer and having tested in Spain last week he put the lessons to good use and qualified 11th and was comfortably faster than his teammate Alexis Masbou.
