Pedrosa: Track needs to clean

1 of 1

Dani Pedrosa was not too worried after setting the fifth fastest time of the opening night’s running in Qatar.

With track conditions dusty the Repsol Honda rider felt that the potential of the Honda wasn’t able to be shown and that as the running continues on track we’ll see a more reflective set of results ahead of the opening Grand Prix of the season in two weeks time.

“We did some laps here after a long time and basically the first day here is always about cleaning the track,” said Pedrosa. “We could see lap by lap that we were getting more grip but we could see that it’s still not the highest grip level. Today was about getting some laps in and finding a good setup for this track and seeing how the bike behaves on the long straight and in these conditions where the grip is less than Sepang.

“Everything was a little bit difficult to normal but I don’t know if all the riders were pushing on track or if they were getting comfortable. We all know that you have to spend time to clean the track here.”
