Hernandez knocks Marquez out of QP2

Yonny Hernandez caused a stir by setting the fastest time in QP1 and knocking Marc Marquez out of the top two places in the session. As a result the Columbian and Aleix Espargaro made it through to QP2 whereas Marquez will qualify a career worst 13th on the grid for tomorrow’s Italian Grand Prix.

Marquez had a crash in FP4 and with his day’s running having seen plenty of mistakes he will face an uphill task tomorrow to make it through the field. With the Yamaha’s of Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi looking strong and Andrea Dovizioso in contention for the win this could be a pivotal moment in the title race.

Scott Redding was over a second off the pace and will line up 17th on the grid.
