Kent keeps the pressure on rivals with fastest time in warmup

Danny Kent stormed to pole position yesterday and afterwards told MCN that his plan was to get away from the front of the field and try and open a gap to his chasers. With the long Mugello start finish straight it’s very difficult to open and maintain a gap, a slipstream is worth half a second, but Kent’s pace in morning warmup shows that he’ll have the potential to try and enact his planned strategy.

A margin of seven tenths of a second shows how comfortable Kent is looking in terms of single lap pace at the moment with only three riders within a second of the Englishman. Romano Fenati, who’ll start from the front row, was 30th fastest in the session.
