Antonelli wins but Kent now on verge of title

1 of 1

Niccolo Antonelli took the win in Japan but with wet conditions it was Danny Kent who took another step towards the title. The British rider is now 56 points ahead of Enea Bastianini in the standings having beaten his Italian rival after a last lap overtaking move.

Kent dropped back to 16th on the opening lap as he was pushed wide by rival riders and pushed to the outside of the track. Kent, riding somewhat conservatively, than started to press harder and move through the field until he ultimately made his move on his title rival.

With a 56 point lead Kent can guarantee the championship with a top two finish at Philip Island.

John McPhee had a great ride to fight through the field from 24th on the grid to claim a top ten finish.
