Zarco fastest despite a fall

A late fall couldn’t stop Johann Zarco from topping the times in final practice at Sepang with the Moto2 world champion comfortably fastest from Alex Rins. The Frenchman fell at the final corner on his next lap but he’d done enough at that point to show the field how strong he is once again after a disappointing outing in Australia.

Rins was three tenths off the pace with Thomas Luthi a further three tenths adrift. Luthi, who traditionally is fast at the season closing races, looks to be in strong form again this weekend. The Swiss rider has won in Malaysia twice and could be a real contender tomorrow after going fastest yesterday.

Sam Lowes was sixth fastest on the Speed Up.
