Lorenzo: My focus remains with Yamaha

Jorge Lorenzo has spoken publically for the first time since his new Ducati deal for the 2017 and 2018 season was announced yesterday, posting a short video message to social media to thank his fans for the well wishes he’s received since the deal was confirmed yesterday.

However, contractually limited from discussing the new deal in depth, most likely until the end of 2016, the reigning world champion simply took the time to reconfirm that his focus remains for the time being on winning a fourth championship this year with Yamaha.

“I want to say thank you for all the messages I’ve received over the last few days. As you know, I have a fantastic challenge ahead of me in the future, but now my focus remains with Yamaha, Jerez and the 15 races we have left this season, to try and become MotoGP world champion for the fourth time.”

With no opportunity for the world’s media to question him until Thursday’s press conference at Jerez, it remains to be seen just how much the Spaniard can talk about his new deal; although it is expected to be limited.
